Fielden Agrihood - Auburn, AL

Fielden is a proposed Agrihood — a new kind of neighborhood envisioned for the Auburn area. The community’s vision is rooted in land stewardship, health and wellness, and authentic human connection. Unlike traditional subdivisions, Fielden places agriculture and nature at the center of daily life. Working landscapes, community gathering spaces, walking trails, and homes designed with beauty and simplicity in mind are all part of the Fielden experience. A blend of Southern heritage and timeless, European-inspired design creates a place that feels rooted, refined, and deeply connected to the land.

The initial 300–350 acres are planned as a conservation subdivision, meaning that 50% of the most sensitive land will be preserved and protected in perpetuity. This includes Loblockee Creek and its adjacent floodplains and wetlands, existing woodlands, and vital wildlife habitats. In exchange for conserving these areas as open space, the remaining 50% of the land will accommodate clustered development on smaller lots. The total number of homes will reflect the existing allowable density of one unit per acre.

We envision a series of hamlets featuring neighborhood amenities such as parks, playgrounds, trails, and courtyards. A handful of small-scale businesses and a diverse range of housing types will attract a wide variety of residents. A thoughtful mix of single-family homes, varied lot sizes, and a limited number of live/work units will ensure inclusivity, supporting a mixed-income, multigenerational community. Additional planned amenities include a mercantile or traditional general store, cottage courts, pasture lots, a farm hub with county fire station, and The Inn at Fielden — a dedicated area designed to welcome overnight guests.
