Zoning Ordinance

Gallatin, Tennessee

Gallatin, a booming community just northeast of Nashville, was in desperate need of an updated and tailored Zoning Ordinance. New regulations would help the City to achieve many of its recent Comprehensive Plan recommendations, including promoting walkability, encouraging a mix of uses and housing options, and concentrating most development around Downtown Gallatin. After interviewing policymakers and City staff, and gathering input through the PlanapaloozaTM process, TPUDC identified a community concern about developments that result in monotony and the destruction of natural resources.

TPUDC integrated stringent standards into the highly illustrative and user-friendly Client Draft to protect trees, historic resources, and steep slopes. We are currently in the Client Review Period, and the project is slated to be completed by the Summer of 2025.
