W. Brian Wright, CNU-A

Founding Principal

Brian Wright is the Founding Principal of Town Planning & Urban Design Collaborative (TPUDC). He began his career at Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company. Over the years, he has worked on many planning and zoning projects across the country, Most recently, he has been involved the process of generating user-friendly and graphically rich plans and regulating documents for the City of Birmingham, Alabama and the City of San Marcos, Texas. Brian leads internal quality control activities and big picture strategy for our projects. As a highly skilled public speaker, Brian is an expert in public outreach and engagement, a specialty of TPUDC. Brian’s ability to lead a dynamic and successful public engagement process inspires and assists communities in reaching consensus where none could be reached before.

William S. Wright, J.D., CNU

DIRECTOR OF CODING & LAND USE ATTORNEY

Bill is a Smart Growth land use attorney and consultant who, prior to joining TPUDC, was partner with the firm, Balch & Bingham LLP, practicing in the areas of real estate and land regulation. He is one of a handful of coding experts in the country having both legal experience in Smart Growth and land regulatory matters as well as a comprehensive understanding of planning and the interface between the two. Bill’s unique understanding of planning and related principles and its relationship with land use ensures that each TPUDC code has the desired results. Bill is a coauthor of the SmartCode & Manual, a guide to the customization, adoption, and implementation of the SmartCode, a model form-based planning, development, zoning, and subdivision code that enables and encourages Smart Growth development and re-development.

 

Jessica Wilson (Buechler), AICP, CNU-A

Project Director 

Jessica is an urban designer and planner with experience in community planning, urban and architectural design, and community engagement. She joined the TPUDC team after spending over four years in the Metro Nashville Planning Department Design Studio where she worked with communities and developers on multiple planning, zoning and urban design projects in variety of areas, from rural to downtown. 

 

Anna Blevins

Project Manager & PLANNER

Anna is a project manager and planner with TPUDC. Her interests lie in municipal comprehensive plan writing, social equity planning, and gathering public input through extensive outreach processes. Her background in sociology lends to a knowledge of background research and understanding differing points of view—both of which are crucial in the municipal planning process. Some of her most recent projects include code writing and GIS analysis for Manchester, New Hampshire, and Norwalk, Connecticut, along with writing the updated Comprehensive Plan for Athens, Alabama, and the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) for Manchester, Connecticut.

 

Erica Guertin

Project Manager & Urban Designer

Erica is a project manager and urban designer with a strong foundation in municipal planning and private land development. Her aptitude towards planning is shown in her experience which includes site design and development, complex policy recommendations, land use and zoning recommendations, code amendments, and facilitating public engagement workshops. Prior to joining the team, Erica worked for four years as a planner and designer at WGI. That experience allowed her to understand the multidisciplinary nature of project management, and how to deliver products that respond to client and community-driven goals.

 

Bailey Dybas

Associate Planner

Bailey is an associate planner with TPUDC. Over the past four years, Bailey’s work with resort towns has deepened her insights into the delicate balance between tourism and residential needs, enabling her to adeptly navigate and address the challenges unique to  these areas. Her hands-on experience and understanding of these dynamics, in addition to her background in environment and development, blend economic viability with environmental stewardship. Bailey’s contributions, marked by a strong commitment to collaborative approaches and sustainable practices, lends knowledge to understanding the interplay between economic development and natural resources.

 

Catherine Goodrum, AICP

PLANNER

Catherine Goodrum has over six years of experience as a Comprehensive Planner in New England. With the Southeastern Regional Planning & Economic Development District in Massachusetts, she contributed significantly to the production of numerous Comprehensive Plans (Plans of Conservation & Development) as well as housing and local area plans. Working with local citizens and boards, she created high quality visuals including maps, diagrams, and photo-visualizations. She has experience conducting GIS analysis as well as assessing walking, biking, and streetscape conditions. She applies a broad knowledge of sustainable design at all scales.

 

Gorica Zivak

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Gorica is a talented graphic designer in TPUDC’s Nashville office. She is responsible for the creation of various graphics including public outreach materials, infographics and master plan documents. Her eye for detail and creative approach ensures that TPUDC’s graphic deliverables are eye-catching and exciting as well as professional and cohesive.

 

Sabrina Below

PRACTICE MANAGER

Sabrina handles the day-to-day operations of TPUDC. For each project, she coordinates travel and meeting arrangements and assists with administrative duties including team coordination, scheduling, and other related tasks to ensure that the project runs smoothly and efficiently. As a charrette coordinator, Sabrina handles on-the-ground logistics, allowing the creative consultant team to maximize their design and production time.
